Suzanne Pleshette 1937 – 2008
Actress Suzanne Pleshette passed away earlier this month just a few weeks shy of her seventy-first birthday. Today she will posthumously receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fondly remembered for her roles on television’s The Bob Newhart Show and in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (1963), Pleshette also starred in a few films that could be qualified as Cool Cinema Trash. If you have the opportunity, I suggest you check out the sublimely soapy Rome Adventure (1962) in which she co-stars with future husband Troy Donahue. If Pleshette as a nyphomanical suburbanite is more to your liking, then you can’t go wrong with A Rage to Live (1965). Though neither is yet available on DVD, they occasionally air on cable.
