Here’s the trailer for the upcoming remake of Prom Night. Though the scares featured in the ad are conventional (this version is PG-13) it still manages to be kinda creepy thanks in part to the juxtaposition of Prom prep vs. Prom Terror. The trailer is essentially divided into two parts. The second half features the scares that you’d expect from a Prom Night film, but he first half makes it look like a trailer for a late 90’s teen rom com (Buzz at CampBlood.org accurately described this portion as “banal”). Here’s the trailer for the original. It manages to be pretty scary too, but any chills are negated by the over-the-top gauzy discoiness of it all.
