Programing Note: Johnny Guitar 3/7

March 6th, 2009

 Johnny Guitar 1954

The one-of-a-kind western cult classic Johnny Guitar (1954) will air Saturday 3/7 on TCM at 6pm est. It will play again on 3/31 at 11:30am. Be sure not to miss it as Johnny Guitar is still not available on DVD. Starting Monday, we’ll post the movie in daily installments as part of our continuing CCT Theatre series.

Programing Note: TCM Underground – The Swinger 1/23

January 19th, 2009

TCM Underground will air one of our favorite Ann-Margaret flicks, The Swinger (1966) late night this Friday the 23rd. This musical sex comedy is so drenched in 60’s era “hipness” that it was dated the very day it was released. A-M is at her sex kitten peak in this one, and it’s not on DVD, so don’t miss it!

Programing Note: TCM’s Summer Under the Stars

August 7th, 2008

This month is TCM’s Summer Under the Stars film festival. Each day is devoted to a specific Hollywood star. Coming up on Sunday the 10th are the films of Doris Day. In addition to her comedies and musicals, they’ll be airing the stewardess-in-peril flick Julie (1956). The following day is devoted to Richard Widmark. Be sure not to miss the nuthouse classic The Cobweb (1955). On Tuesday the 12th, Kim Novak gets her turn in the spotlight. No day of Novak films would be complete without Robert Aldrich’s camp masterpiece The Legend of Lylah Claire (1968). None of the film mentioned above are available on DVD so be sure to set your Tivo and DVR’s!
