This month is TCM’s Summer Under the Stars film festival. Each day is devoted to a specific Hollywood star. Coming up on Sunday the 10th are the films of Doris Day. In addition to her comedies and musicals, they’ll be airing the stewardess-in-peril flick Julie (1956). The following day is devoted to Richard Widmark. Be sure not to miss the nuthouse classic The Cobweb(1955). On Tuesday the 12th, Kim Novak gets her turn in the spotlight. No day of Novak films would be complete without Robert Aldrich’s camp masterpiece The Legend of Lylah Claire (1968). None of the film mentioned above are available on DVD so be sure to set your Tivo and DVR’s!
It’s going to be a wild and crazy night for fans of cult cinema this Friday the 27th. First up on IFC is the campers-in-peril slasher flick Madman (1982)at 12 midnight. Later, around 2AM, TCM will air the irresistible double feature, Death Race 2000 (1976) and Yor, Hunter From the Future (1983). It should be fun to check out the original Death Race before the Jason Statham remake hits theatres this August. Fans of Yor should definitely tune in on Friday night since it appears that TCM will be airing a widescreen print of this cheesy barbarian classic.
TCM Underground, the weekly late night cult film presentation from our friends at Turner Classic Movies, have done it once again. This Friday night at 2AM, the channel will run an outrageous double feature consisting of the “futuristic” musical The Apple (1980) and Linda Blair’s roller disco opus Roller Boogie(1979).
I don’t know about you, but my DVR is already set for late night Friday 6/6 at 2AM when TCM Underground will be airing the ultra-rare Wicked, Wicked (1973) a half-baked horror/thriller filmed in the wonder of “Duo-Vision”. The theme song alone makes this one a must see!
TCM Underground takes a good long toke this Friday nite (5/9) when they run the anti-drug exploitation classics, Reefer Madness (1936) Marihuana (1936) and Cocaine Fiends (1937). The fun begins at 2AM est so bake some brownies (make sure there’s enough for everyone!) and prepare yourself for some of the wildest propaganda ever committed to celluloid!

Easter is this Sunday (3/23) and Turner Classic Movies will run the traditional holiday fare (Easter Parade, 1948 and King of Kings, 1961). It also happens to be Joan Crawford’s 100th birthday. To celebrate, the channel will play several of her films, including one of our very favorites, Joan’s outrageous foray into the world of technicolor musicals, Torch Song(1953). Click here for the day’s roster of films.
Easter comes early this year when TCM Underground airs the killer rabbit classic Night of the Lepus (1972) late this Friday night (3/14). If you haven’t yet seen Janet Leigh, Stuart Whitman, Rory Calhoun and DeForest Kelly battle the giant bunnies, now is your chance!
